Toronto-born Carlo Lio has long been a force throughout the underground, earning a reputation for his versality but most of all, his hypnotic, techy beats. As a DJ, producer, and co-label boss of Rawthentic Music alongside Nathan Barato, he has released on influential imprints like Tronic, Suara, and KD Raw, with his music championed by the likes of Dubfire, Marco Carola, Carl Cox, and Loco Dice. His ability to translate raw emotion into sound has made him a big fixture on dancefloor’s everywhere.
His new collab with M.I.T.A perfectly sets the tone the relaunch of Carl Cox’s label, Intec – which has always been a champion of high-energy, tribal, and groove-driven techno, as well as its more melodic side. Now after almost 5 years, the label returns with a renewed focus: uncovering standout records from fresh talent while bringing back some familiar names from its storied past. The duo’s lead track ‘Chasing Ghosts’ is a relentless peak-time weapon, while ‘AFREAKA’ and ‘The Artist’s Struggle’ push deeper into funky, hard-groove territory – setting a high bar for the return of one of the most legendary labels in techno.
